Located in the Newberry Wellness Center, our goal is to provide each client with the highest quality of massage therapy. All of our therapists are state licensed. Graduates of professional schools of massage and bring with them a wealth of experience and the highest level of training in the industry. Before each massage our clients receive an individual consultation to determine what the clients expectations are for today’s massage. Each client is treated as an individual. We customize your massage each visit. And a one hour massage is a full 60 minutes of hands on therapy. Many area doctors refer their patients to our clinic for muscle problems and stress related problems.

Jan O’Malley is the founder, owner and director of Libertyville Massage Therapy Clinic. Jan established the clinic in 1985. As a pioneer in the field of massage therapy, Jan opened the first massage therapy clinic in Lake County, Illinois. After Jan graduated, from the Chicago School of Massage Therapy, in the top of her class, in 1983, she set up her private practice of massage therapy in her home in Lake Villa. As the word spread about this “new therapy that the public deserved to know about” as Jan put it, her business grew fast. Soon, Jan was booked with massage therapy appointments five weeks in advance. The public curiosity was piqued by this new therapy. Jan was soon featured in numerous newspaper articles, including at the time, The Waukegan News Sun, The Daily Herald, The Pioneer Press, The Lake Villa Journal, Women in Business, Libertyville News, The Sun Health and Fitness, The Market Journal, and Lakeland Newspapers. She was a frequent guest of Fritz Sorenson, a public affairs radio- tv talk show host on U.S. Cable TV in Waukegan, to explain and demonstrate professional massage therapy, sports massage, and infant massage, to name a few. Through television, Jan was now able to educate and bring awareness to the public, about the massage therapy profession and the health benefits that come with this therapy.

In 1985, Jan moved her practice to Libertyville and opened the clinic at 128 Newberry Avenue, hiring two massage therapists to her staff. As awareness of massage therapy and its benefits grew, so did Jan’s staff and business, By the 1990’s, the staff of massage therapists numbered 18. During this time, Jan, with the help of her husband Michael, raised three children, Cara, Devin and Jillian.

Jan’s goal was and still is to provide each client with the highest quality, state of the art massage therapy. All of the therapists are state licensed, graduates of professional schools of massage therapy and bring with them a wealth of experience and the highest level of training in the industry. Many of the therapists have worked at the clinic from 9 to 27 years.

Jan was able to purchase the building at 128 Newberry Avenue and named the building Newberry Wellness Center. The building is home to LMTC as well as several PhD clinical psychologists and counselors who offer private practice counseling for families and individuals.

Local prestigious colleges and corporations are valued repeat customers of Jan’s clinic and staff. Many area doctors refer their patients to the clinic for soft tissue therapy. The clinic clientele are from all walks of life, from famous football players to student athletes, politicians to clergy, grandparents to children, corporate directors to small business owners to stay at home parents. Through the years, Jan has introduced thousands of people to massage therapy and its benefits.
